Lubricating Oil Reclaimer (Patent No: 445665)

Inventor: Morris, Bruce

Location: Calgary

Comments: re-issue of Patent 421,076

Description: Bruce Morris, Calgary, Alberta. Canada, 16th December, 1947. Filed 23rd August. 1945. Serial No. 530,565. Notice: This is a re-issue of Patent No. 421,076, dated 27th June. 1944.

Claim.—1. A lubricating oil reclaimer comprising in combination, a vaporizing chamber having an oil discharge aperture, a surrounding wall, bounding, defining, and directly enclosing a filter chamber having an oil inlet thereto, said filter chamber being superimposed over said vaporizing chamber, a heat radiating element in said vaporizing chamber, said element being in the form of a plate inclining from the horizontal and from one side of said vaporizing chamber to the other, oil transferred from said filter chamber to said vaporizing chamber being precipitated onto the elevated side of said element and gravitating downwardly thereover.

2. A lubricating oil reclaimer comprising in combination, a vaporizing chamber having an oil discharge aperture, and a filter chamber having an inlet aperture adjacent the top thereof, said filter chamber being superimposed over said vaporizing chamber, oil proceeding downwardly through said filter chamber and through the base thereof, a heat radiating element in said vaporizing chamber, and an inclining flow plate in said vaporizing chamber above said boat radiating element, oil discharging through the base of said filter chamber being precipitated onto said flow plate and gravitating downwardly thereover to be precipitated onto said heat radiating element.

6. In combination with the device as defined in claim 1, a primary flow plate in said vaporizing chamber above said heal radiating element said flow plate inclining downwardly towards the high side of said element, said flow plate and said element being disposed at an acute angle each with respect to each other, a secondary flow plate above the low side of said primary flow plate and hooding said low side, and a primary vapour-escape aperture in said vaporizing chamber below said primary flow plate and a secondary vapour-escape aperture in said vaporizing chamber below said secondary flow plate.

8. A lubricating oil reclaimer comprising in combination. a casing enclosing a vaporizing chamber having an oil flow aperture therein, a superimposed filter chamber having filtering material therein, a heat radiating plate in said vaporizing chamber constituting the floor thereof, and an oil permeable, multi-apertured filtering material supporting plate spanning said casing and separating said vaporizing chamber from said filter chamber.

Claims allowed, 9.
