Covers for Building Blocks and the Like (Patent No: 724505)

Inventor: Domtar Limited

Location: Montreal, PQ

Comments: N/A

Description: I claim:

1. A flattened knocked down blank for forming a rectangular tray like body, said block comprising a pair of end panels and a pair of side panels interposed between said end panels, said side and end panels being connected together by parallel crease lines which define the corners of said blank, a continuous score line extending about said blank and dividing each of said panels into a wall and a flap and a second score line extending at an angle across each said flap from the point of intersection of said continuous score line and one of said crease lines.

2. A blank as defined in Claim 1 wherein said continuous score line is cut from the exposed surface of said tray and each said second score line is cut from the interior of said blank.

3. A rectangular tube like blank having two pairs of opposed panels with corners joining said panels formed by longitudinally extending crease lines, a first score line extending peripherally of said blank and substantially perpendicularly to said crease lines, said first score line dividing each said panel into a wall section and a flap section, a second score line extending at an angle across each said flap section, each said second score line extending from the junction of said first score line and one of said crease lines and being arranged at the same angle to said first score line.

4. A blank as defined in claim 3 wherein said first score line is cut from the outer face of said blank while said second score lines are cut from the inner face of said blank.

5. A blank as defined in claims 3 and 4 wherein said blank is constructed of corrigated board having a corrugated medium sandwiched between a pair of liners and wherein said first and second score lines are cut through a liner and said corrigated medium.

6. A cover including a pair of rectangular end walls and a pair of rectangular side walls, flaps joined to each of said end and side walls by first score line extending the full length of said walls, crease lines at the intersection of adjacent walls, extensions of said crease lines defining the boundary of adjacent flaps, the length of each of said flaps being approximately one-half the length of the shortest wall of said tray, a second score line extending at an angle of about 45 degrees to said first score line from the junction of said first score line and each said extension of said crease line, each said second score line extending in the same direction peripherally of said cover.

7. A cover as defined in claim 6 wherein said first score line is cut from the outer face of said cover while said second score lines are cut from the inner face of said cover.

8. A cover as defined in claims 6 and 7 constructed of a corrigated board having a corrigated medium sandwiched between a pair of liners wherein said first and said second score lines are cut through a liner and said corrugated medium.
