Description: Albert Fraser Johnson and Arthur William Folsom, assignee of fifteen per cent each, and the Avery Grain Door Sales, Limited, assignee of twenty per cent, and fifty per cent of the interest in trust for Harry Howard Avery, assignor, all of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 23rd September, 1924. Filed 31st March, 1923. Serial No. 275,950.

Claim.—1. A grain door, for railroad cars or the like, comprising in combination with a door slidable in grooves and operated by ratchet moving device, an automatic securing dog mounted upon the said grain door so as to engage the face of the car opening and prevent unauthorized movement of the said grain door, all substantially as described.

2. A grain door, for railroad cars or the like, comprising in combination with a door slidable in grooves and operated by rack and pinion moving device, an automatically operated door to retain the slidable door in the open position, all substantially as described.

4. A grain door for railroad cars or the like, comprising in combination with a door slidable in grooves and operated by suitable moving device, a jointed rack engaged by a pinion the shorter portion of which is adapted to fall vertically adjacent the end of the door when not engaged by the said pinion and to be raised to the horizontal position by the action of the said pinion, all substantially as described.
