Animal Capturing Device (Patent No: 629943)

Description: The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
(1) A device for capturing animals by the leg thereof, comprising in combination an elongated handle portion, a counter angulated crook portion formed on one end thereof and lying in spaced and parallel relationship to said handle portion, thus providing a gap between the end of said angulated portion remote from said one end, and said handle portion, spring loaded actuating lever means pivotally secured at the said end of said counter angulated portion remote from said one end, and at least one leg engaging cord extending between said actuating lever means and said handle portion substantially opposite said end of said counter angulated portion, said cord loosely spanning said gap between said end of said counter angulated portion, and said handle portion, when in the animal capturing position.
(2) The device according to Claim 1 in which said actuating lever means consists of a lever pivoted to said end of said counter angulated portion by one end thereof and normally lying substantially parallel to said handle, said cord being secured to the other end of said lever, a spring connecting portion secured to said one end of said lever and movable with said lever, and a tension spring extending between said spring connecting portion and said counter angulated portion whereby said lever normally lies substantially parallel to said handle as aforesaid.
(3) The device according to Claim 1 in which said counter angulated portion includes a pair of spaced and parallel members, cross bars spanning said members, and a pair of cords one upon each member, said cords converging to a common point where same connect to said actuating lever.
(4) The device according to Claim 2 in which said counter angulated portion includes a pair of spaced and parallel members, cross bars spanning said members, and a pair of cords one upon each member, said cords converging to a common point where same connect to said actuating lever.
