Having thus described my invention, what I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In a Tent Pole a longitudinally extending joint between two members of substantially similar cross sections, one member having a tongue which extends into an orifice in the other and a coil spring coasting between the end of the tongue and the base of the orifice, external guides secured to one member passing along the other and provided with slots, through which slots, stops are secured to the free member, all substantially as described.
