Description: Amending Claims:

Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in the Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:

I CLAIM:-

1. A preserving jar of the type described with conventional cover and sealing ring, a circumferentially disposed lug on the outside face towards the top of said jar, a cover clamping bridge member, clamping levers pivoted in said bridge member, circular claw shaped flanges on the ends of said levers to grip the under surface of said lug, a pressure directing threaded spindle passing loosely through the centre section of said bridge member, a nut engaged by said spindle to create and maintain pressure between the bridge member and the lid when claw flanges engage said lug, and a handle on upper projecting end of said threaded spindle for turning and lifting purposes.
2. A clamp of the type described in combination with and for hermetically sealing preserving jars with their covers and rings said clamp comprising a bridge member, a pair of pivoted clamping levers within said bridge member, a circumferentially disposed lug on the outside face towards the top open end of said jar, a pressure directing screw spindle passing vertically through the centre section of said bridge member, spring means pivotally attached to the lower end of said spindle to contact the cover of the jar for the application of sealing pressure the cover of the jar for the application of sealing pressure gradually, a lifting a turning handle terminating the upper and of said spindle, and a threaded nut fitting into centre section of said bridge member as a resistant pressure member against said levers.
