Buffalo Creek
Category : Creek | |
Now called Niobe Creek, original settlers in the area referred to this feature as Buffalo Creek and it is noted in the 1909 survey records by that name. It was called this because the path it follows was carved by migration of the bison, and because its water source is the largest of a group of five lakes originally titled Buffalo Lakes. A post office was opened on Buffalo Creek and it was called Niobe. As a result the name of the creek officially changed to Niobe Creek in the early 1950s. (see Niobe Creek) |
