- Tony Aiello-Provincial champion in Track.
- Amantea Family-They resided in Calgary around 1953.
- Andrenacci Family-Emigrated to Calgary from Fermo (Marche),
Italy in 1948.
- Blasetti Family-Grandparents
emigrated from Antrodoco in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Guido, the
son of Bernardina (nee Serani)
and Andrea (Andrew) Blasetti,
arrived in Nordegg
as a baby in 1914 and grew up to be a very successful entrepreneur, establishing one of the largest
trucking firms in Canada, "The Big Horn Transport," which
today is a family-run business.
- Dora Buccini-Employed by the Hudson's Bay Company at
the outbreak of World War ll.
- Isotta (Isa) Buccini-Isotta (Isa) Buccini, Dora's
sister, joined the Air Force. Isa went on to become one of
Calgary's first female police officers in 1949.
- Mary Bussi-Employed by the Hudson's Bay Company at the
outbreak of World War ll.
Ilda and Angelo
Cambruzzi-They had a
double wedding with friends Gioacchino and Luigia De Marchi in
1957, and are members of Calgary's Bellunesi Association.
- Luca Carloni-He came to Nordegg from Antrodoco (Lazio),
Italy. When his sister's children were orphaned by the influenza
epidemic of 1918, he moved to Calgary to look after them. He was
instrumental in founding the Italian Club, the Sportsman
Dinner Association and the Columbus Savings and Credit
- Michele (Mike) Ciccaglione-He
was born in Sessano, Italy, and studied restaurant management and
business administration in Lucerne, Switzerland for six years.
He moved to Calgary in 1962, working first as a waiter, before
beginning his career as an entrepreneur in the food industry.
After opening the Prairie Dog Inn restaurant in 1967, he became the
Canadian distributor for El Molino Company, a producer of Mexican
food and sauces. He anticipated the enormous growth in public
taste for Latino foods and El Molino Foods of Canada Ltd. has continued
to grow. Other ventures include the Mexican Village chain, Il Giardino Restaurants, the Royal Duke English Pub.
He and his wife Lucia have two children, Judy and Mike Junior.
He is a supporter of amateur soccer, the Calgary Food Bank, as well
as supporting a range of community activities including the
Multicultural Council of Canada.
