Father Giovanni Bonelli, 2002. Photo by David Ridley of the Heritage Community Foundation, 2002. Father Giovanni Bonelli arrived in Edmonton from Chicago in 1957 because of a demand by the Italian community of Edmonton for their own parish.  He and Father Rino Ziliotto were sent by the Scalabrini Fathers in Chicago to fill the need.

The interview was conducted by Sab Roncucci for the Dante Alighieri Oral History Project in 1973.

This oral history project was initiated by Sabatino Roncucci, a founder of the Dante Alighieri Society, for the purpose of documenting immigration history so that it could be shared not only with the Italian community but also the community at large.
