Part 2:

  • Mrs. Pocaterra tells of how she met Mr. Pocaterra.
     

  • sang opera in Canada
     

  • Mr. Pocaterra went to Milan after his father's death in 1934
     

  • married June 18, 1936 in Italy
     

  • Milan; opera career; sang throughout Italy; goes on in great detail - amusing episode "husband of the Prima Donna (Mrs.Pocaterra) didn't have a seat - oh, oh"
     

  • stuck in Switzerland when War declared
     

  • set sail for Canada from Italy to start life anew
     

  • pioneered in Highwood River area; fishing, trapping, smoked fish
     

  • she was requested to sing for soldiers & others in Calgary
     

  • offered a position at Mount Royal College in Calgary
     

  • moved from the Highwood to Ghost River (built log house "Val Norma") to be closer to Calgary (details of harrowing move)
     

  • (excellent summary) George had land surveyed where the map was blank before (and the surveyor, unbeknownst to George, named a lot of features, creeks, etc. after Pocaterra.  There is even a geological formation named after him.)
