Lembit Saar
(Masters Track and Field)

EIghty-three-year-old Lembit Saar of Calgary is shown clearing the high jump bar at 1 metre during an age-class competition in Edmonton, 2001. He held four national records in field events. In 2002, then 83 year old Lembit Saar of Calgary won three medals at the Alberta Masters Track and Field Championships. He won gold in shot-put and hammerthrow, and silver in high jump. He began competing in track and field at the age of 70 while living in Toronto.

Lembit was born in Estonia and immigrated to Australia following the Second World War. He later relocated to Canada in 1952.
