Dr. Asit Sarkar, director, U of S International, is back from giving a talk on the evolution of economic governance in Canada, at the University of Delhi; advising the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment; participating in meetings of the Canada-Saudi Arabia Joint Economic Commission; and addressing a national workshop on "The design and management of business incubators," in Malaysia.



Brett Wilson, BSP'91, who has been with the Saskatchewan Drug Research Institute since 1994, has been named its director, succededing Professor Emeritus Gordon Johnson, of Pharmacology. The purpose of the SDRI is to enhance opportunities for Saskatchewan researcher-physicians to conduct drug trials financed by the pharmaceutical industry.



Emily Farnham, who is retiring on April 30 as director of admissions and student records, has been awarded a lifetime membership in the Western Association of Registrars of Universities and Colleges of Canada.



Current USSU vice-president (government affairs) Sean Junor has been elected student president for 1999-2000. Also elected were: Rob Huck, vice-president (external affairs); Scott Henderson, vice-president (operations and finance); Scott Blythe, vice-president (academic affairs); and Aaron Dougan, vice-president (student issues). Voter turnout for the new executive was 13%. The new executive takes power on May 1, 1999.
