AROUND THE BOWL

The 16,000-member Association of Ground-Water Scientists and Engineers has selected Professor Jim Hendry, NSERC-Cameco Research Chair in Aqueous and Environmental Geochemistry, Geological Sciences, as its Distinguished Darcy Lecturer for 2000. The award, recognizing his "outstanding stature" in the field, is given to only one international researcher a year and will enable him to present, internationally, the impressive results of the research he has undertaken here since 1995.

Professor Carey Williamson, of Computer Science, will be the program chair for this year's international ACM SIGMETRICS Conference on the Measurement and Modeling of Computer Systems, in Atlanta, GA, in May - the third member of his Department to be named to this prestigious role in the last 12 years.

Fourth-year pharmacy students have elected Professor Jeffrey Taylor, of Pharmacy and Nutrition, as the recipient of the 1998-99 Bristol-Myers Squibb Outstanding Teacher Award for excellence in teaching.
