Law Foundation endows entrance scholarship
The Law Foundation of Saskatchewan has commemorated its 25th anniversary by giving the College of Law $50,000 to endow an entrance scholarship.
Dean Kent Roach received a cheque from Harry Dahlem, QC, at a Law Foundation dinner in Regina. He thanked the Foundation for providing a scholarship which will better enable the College to compete for the best and the brightest and he noted that the Foundation's continued support of the College is a vital sign of the close relations between the legal profession and the College.
The Law Foundation was founded in 1973 to administer a fund derived from interest earned on lawyers' trust accounts. Over its 25 years, the Foundation has received some $27 million from interest earned on general trust accounts that previously did not earn any interest.
The fund is used for the purposes of legal education, legal research, law libraries and law reform. Over the last 25 years, $26.9 million has been given as grants for these valuable purposes.
