  • MUSEUM OF ANTIQUITIES - COLUMBARIUM EXHIBIT

    The Museum of Antiquities, 237 Murray Building, is currently featuring a Roman columbarium exhibit, columbariums being multi-niched chambers for the interment of the dead. The Museum's exhibit includes a scale model of a columbarium, grave goods, gravestones bearing epitaphs, and photographs, with original artifacts from the collection of Dr. Robert McCorkell, of Saskatoon.

    Museum hours:

      - to Friday, April 23: 9 a.m. to 12 noon, M, W, Fr; 1 - 4 p.m. T, Th, Sat.

      - from May to August 24: Monday to Thursday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon; Sundays: 1 to 4 p.m.

      - Closed: May 1-2, May 22-24, June 26-27, July 1-4, July 31-August 2.



    A Roman marble columbarium marker, ca. 2nd - 3rd c. A.D. with the following inscription: "Titus Illius freedman of F. has a place in this monument consigned for himself which is below the flooring on the right side and under the first stair. The freedwoman Eutychia has a place consigned for herself."
