The IIC was about progress in a realm of scholarship that often falls between the cracks at today's academic institutions: the intersection between computer science and other sciences. Research problems increasingly require computational solutions, but a tradition of peer-to-peer collaborations among discipline-based and computer scientists has yet to be established. By filling the gap between science and computer science research, IIC projects focused on solving scientific problems that require innovative computational solutions.
