Message from the President
Welcome to the Waterman Alumnae Association Website!
The Margaret Waterman Alumnae Group was established 64 years ago as a non-profit organization dedicated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Annually the group raises funds for scholarships for need-based students at the University of Michigan. Through memberships in our Town Hall Celebrity Series and the generosity of our program sponsors and donors to the Waterman endowment at the University, we have been able to grant 327 scholarships as of the 2016-2017 school year.
During the 2016-2017 season of the Town Hall Celebrity Series will feature thought-provoking guest lecturers at four luncheons at the Michigan Union on the University campus.
This season’s speakers are:
- Robin Wright, an International Affairs expert, journalist and author, will speak on Thursday, October 13, 2016. She has reported from more than 140 coutries, and is a U-M grad who received an honorary degree from UM in 2015.
- On Tuesday, November 8, 2016 we will hear Marc Lapadula speak on the History of Film. He is a playwright, screenwriter, film producer and university lecturer.
- Women in Advertising is the third lecture on Thursday, April 20, 2017, with Jean Kilbourne. She is known for her ability to present provocative topics in a way that encourages dialogue and empowers action.
- Victoria Lautman will be speaking on Inside India. She is a freelance cultural journalist, writer and lecturer with a focus on all forms of art and culture. She will present on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
Please become a Waterman member and join us for these exciting speakers. Scroll down this page to find the full 2016-17 brochure. It gives more details about our featured speakers and includes a membership form to complete. Membership to the Waterman Alumnae Group is open to all.
Please return to this website to see a list of the social events planned for the 2016-17 season.
We look forward to seeing you at Town Hall!
