Rodica Diaconescu Blumenfeld is the author of a study on the Italian writer Carlo Emilio Gadda, Born Illiterate: Gender and Representation in Gadda’s Pasticciaccio (Hull: University of Hull Press, 1999). She is co-editor of The Pleasure of Writing: Critical Essays on Dacia Maraini (Purdue: Purdue Studies in Romance Literatures, Purdue University Press, 2000), and, more recently, of the collection of essays Poscritto a Giorgio Bassani. Saggi in memoria del decimo anniversario della morte (Milano: LED, 2012). She has published articles on filmmakers Lina Wertmüller, Marco Risi, and Gianni Amelio. Her current projects include a manuscript on the politics of cultural repression in classic and contemporary Italian cinema, and a translation of Dacia Maraini’s La grande festa (Milano: Rizzoli, 2011).
