Supporting events that further our mission

The Obermann Center welcomes the opportunity to support events that further our mission—promoting research and creative work, facilitating publicly engaged art and scholarship, and building intellectual community. University of Iowa faculty members may request small, discretionary grants (up to $300) to fund opportunities such as visiting speakers and conferences. While applications are accepted throughout the year, we strongly encourage you to apply for these funds before December 15.

Please note:

  • The requesting party is expected to administer the funding and the event. The Obermann Center will provide publicity by adding the event on our website and monthly newsletter but will not assume additional organizational responsibilities in connection with co-sponsored events.
  • The Obermann Center will not release funding for approved co-sponsorships until the event is posted on the UI Events Calendar, with the Obermann Center tagged as a unit.

We're delighted that you're interested in partnering with us. Please complete the form below, and we'll get back to you shortly. Note that co-sponsorship requests should be submitted at least one month in advance of the event.

E-mail address must be valid; please type carefully.
Please enter or suggest a title for the event for our online calendar (and other publicity efforts).
In approximately 100 words, please describe the event, including the main purpose and audience intended for the event.
Please note that if you request our help publicizing your event (see "Promotion" below), it must be open to the public.
We add the University's accessibility statement to each event we share on our web calendar. This statement requires the name and phone number of a UI faculty or staff member who can field and respond to accessibility inquiries.

You should receive an automatic e-mail confirmation upon submitting this form; if you don't, please contact us.
