Florida students improve on Algebra exam

Florida students made strong gains on the state’s key algebra 1 exam this year, with 62 percent passing — up from 55 percent last year, according to results released today.

But the state’s 10th graders showed no improvement on the language arts exam, with half of them passing just as in 2016.

Orange teacher accused of sending students explicit messages

A Lake Nona Middle School teacher has been charged with sending two students videos of himself smoking marijuana and showering.

Scott John Peters, 46, was arrested Monday and charged with transmission of harmful materials to a minor and tampering with physical evidence, according to Orange County Court documents.

UCF seeks to dismiss computer hack lawsuit

The University of Central Florida is seeking dismissal of a lawsuit filed by five people whose Social Security numbers were compromised in the school’s data hack last year.
