Moderator Posts: 10262 !600 motor swap with 1700 motror? 3 Years, 9 Months ago   Has anyone ever swapped out a 1600 motor for a 1700 motor without extensive mods ? Not me, but I remember that somebody did it a year or so ago. Can't remember who though. I thought the only real difference had been the upper motor mount from that earlier thread. There's other differences too, but if you get the intake, and some other minor components with the 1700 it's a pretty straight shot in. Unless the 1600 motor is completely shot I don't see how moving up 4 cubic inches is going to make that much difference. A well tuned 1600 runs plenty strong - some will say even stronger than an equally well tuned 1700 - so why go through all the hassle for the swap?
