One of the important lessons you learn while riding is to let the other guy get his way. If someone wants to tailgate, pull over and let him by. If a 1% club wants to give permission before you start a riding association chapter, fine. It doesn't hurt me at all and avoids trouble. Heck, if some Bandido walked up and told me to hand over my vest, I'd tell him I needed to relocate my Kel-Tec and hand it over.

You can whine about not fair and fight for your rights all you want. At the end of the day, are you willing to suffer physical consequences for a leather garment made in india or for embroidered cloth?

I'm not a biker, I'm a motorcyclist.

I agree with most speakers. It is unbelievably stupid that a small group of criminals can tell you what to do or what NOT to wear but as soon as I or my family and friends are in danger I will gladly hand over my backpatch, even if I am very proud to wear one. Because you will never win a discussion from these guys because they never come alone
They all say it is about respect but that is not it otherwise they would give other people respect too. Respect is a two way thing. You respect eachother, right??

So better stay away from those guys and just ride in peace and have a good time without worries or looking over your shoulder constantly.

I understand not wanting to rock the boat, but what an empowering ego trip for them, huh? You have to ask for permission to do something both legal and has nothing to do with them.

question - would you go swaggering around near a military base wearing a fatigue jacket emblazoned with SEALS badges and logos if you´d never even been in the service?

it would be legal, but i wouldn´t think it would be a good idea.

same shit, different day.

Respect??? Some of you guys don't know the difference betweet Respect and Fear! Respect a bunch of gang banger bikers? Think Not! Wear patches and Swagger Never! NOt a patch on my riding gear. never had the need for it. Have an American EAgle with the U.S. Flag on the back with U.S.A. on the bottom of my Leather Jacket. Don't even begin to tell me not to wear it!

This is not the same. The same would be if I went and put a Banditos patch on then rode through their "territory". That would be the same as wearing fatigues, SEAL badges, and logos. I would be trying to be something I wasn't. And THAT ass kicking I would actually agree with, and rightfully deserve. I would be taking something away from someone that rightfully earned something.

The thing is, no one here is making any points I don't agree with, except the idea of pulling a gun on anyone, outlaw or not, just because I'm "requested", no matter how stiffly, to do something. I don't agree with that. If you do you better ready to kill everyone involved and go to jail. For the right to wear a patched vest? Not me, thanks. That would be like whacking a hornet's nest to kill 3 or 4 on the outside of the nest. And in those instances, I would just comply with the request.

I would not pull a gun on some one that made a request, probably refuse to do so, unless he was an LEO. what I was talking about is some one forcing me to pull over to the side of road to make their request. Because by doing so they are breaking the law and endangering your life. You damn right I would pull a gun on them and be justified in doing so!!

I am outa here. Gotta go give Blood!

Maybe just a small sticker for the windshield/fairing, so if we ever see a R* or other bike, we know if someone is from the clinic? I will be getting the front patch soon, but I don't always wear my vest.
